It is true that businessmen are economists, not engineers. But any business,
beyond people, relies on equipments, buildings, machines, production lines.
For this reason, business people are most "technical" people among economists.
Many times, the income increase or the costs decrease depend on how will business
people understand equipments they rely on.
The "Fundamentals of engineering" subject matter, studied over two
semesters period, is the answer to this kind of request and develops the technical spirit.
The "Real estate investments" subject matter details some technical aspects
concerning buildings and other structures.

Actually, the business administration implies a certain magnetism (charisma) called
"leadership" and the science or art called "management".
No less than 10 subject matters are related to developing students in these directions.
The "Business" subject matter is a very special one, studied ever a 7
semester's period.
This subject matter includes all other studied subject matters, training students
with complex exercises, bringing them closer to the real world they have to face.
From the first year, students learn about property and business association forms,
setting-up a business-plan and other basic concepts.
"Managerial economics" and other few subject matters lay the theoretical
fundamentals of business economic thinking. Supply, demand, price, competition,
profit and other fundamental concepts are deeply analyzed.
"Strategic Management" is one of the fundamental subject matters for the
modern businessman. "Economic warfare" is not just a figure of speech.
Many decades, the concepts from military strategies are successfully applied to
businesses. This subject matter guides the future business persons towards those
directions where probabilities of success are maximized.
"Business marketing" deals with those aspects on how to study and how
to influence the market. It is said that in these days a successful business is
run by …clients. This assertion is obviously exaggerated, but it shows how important
is a businessman to understand his clients and to offer them what they want and even more.
"Organizational management" is the subject matter that lays the fundamentals
of the modern management study. The management functions, efficiency and efficacy,
leadership and management styles, decision taking, the hierarchical structure, the
organization of activities, the management of transformation and other concept that
will be closely analyzed over a 2 semesters period.
"Human resources management" deeply analyzes the methods of selection,
evaluation, promotion, personnel motivation and training. There are also studied
management and trade-union relations, through the angle of labour legislation.
The operational management characteristics in different business fields are the object
of some specific courses: "Production management" and "Management in
services and commerce". Case studies represent the classical method of study
within these subject matters. Certain concepts, specific to each field, useful in practice,
are also learnt. For example, "Management in services and commerce" presents en-gros and
en-detail selling and other aspects related to physical distribution, promotion, "branding".
"International business" is a subject matter dedicated to businesses that
go beyond the country's borders, like almost any success business. Economic

Like leadership, the sense of money is native and necessary to the businessman.
Even if it cannot appear by study, it is compulsory to study finance subject matters
even for the one who is born with sense, maximizing this way the chances of success in business.
"Financial management" is studied over a 2 semester's period and accustoms
the students with the inevitable financial aspect of the business. There are studied
the principles of time-value of the money and the income - risk relation, options
calculations, the methods of cash-flow reporting and adjustment, in a company.

credit instruments, and also studies the fundamentals of modern banking system.

business people modern models of analysis of the direct and indirect investments.

beyond one country's borders.
"Risk management and insurance" goes further into the introduction models and
techniques of the risk in the financial evaluations. The sense of money not risk-averse
can lead to big mistakes. Is car theft a more "profitable business" than producing cars?
Obviously not. Risk is part of the profit making process. Insurance services are risk
evaluation specialized ones. The principles these services are built on, should be well
known by the future businessperson.
"Fiscal Doctrines" deals with taxes. Because taxes represent large amounts
in the financial equation of any business, it is important to study them. Actually,
the taxation system can change the economy or even the society. Amsterdam has houses
with their front side so narrow, that furniture is lifted upstairs with some sort of
pulley system attached to every house. In Edinburgh, many houses had windows painted
in black. Strange things? Not at all. Different taxation methods. In The Netherlands
the tax was paid by the length of the opening to the street, and in Scotland, by the
number of transparent windows.

The accounting is the process of collection, analysis and systematic reporting
of the financial information. The financial reports show a lot of essential variables
of a business: business value, business evolution, where is efficient, where is not
efficient, finally if the management is good or bad. Both managers and shareholders
can have the financial reports at their disposal, but also the bankers and fiscal
authorities. The accounting can be a very useful instrument to the businessman, but
if he only knows how to read them.
The "Fundamentals of accounting" and the "Accounting of the Firm"
are the fundamental subject matters of accounting, because the principles and the
methods are studied here. "International Accounting" accustoms the students with
different accounting systems at international level.
"Managerial Accounting" is strictly referring to the process of business
administration. There are present here the non-financial variables of the business:
labour hours, square meters of gas, kilometers of transportation, employment.
There are studied the "mix" of products, the methods, the strategies and price
formation mechanisms. The costs systems and the distribution of costs per product
or service are also studied and they have a great impact on a business.
"Financial analysis" evaluates a business based on certain financial
ratios taken from the financial reports and the share price evolution on the market.
The businessman might find himself in the position of being evaluated, when he applies
for a credit, but also to evaluate, when he studies the opportunity of a take-over.
